Hooray...etc

Hello,
As you all know I love Instagram. One of my new favorite things to do over there is post little bits of artwork I make.
I think I'm going to get one of my little pieces printed on fabric for a bag very soon. I have a roll of lovely heavy canvas that would be perfect for this project. I really love colour (can you tell!) but think I might go with black. We will see. Watch this space. The little pennant I did this morning to celebrate FRIDAY! I am looking forward to the long weekend. I am going to have all 3 days off. When you run your own business sometimes thats quite a feat.
Have a great long weekend people.

Stuff I love...the work of Ulrika Gustafsson

Hello,
How lovely is Ulrika Gustafssons work? Really lovely. Ulrika is an illustrator and pattern maker and runs the company Plingsulli. I spotted Ulrikas work over at Print and Pattern and had to share here.
To me her work is so refreshing and unique. I love her drawing style. Her creatures are fantastic. Do click on the images to make them larger.
You can find the Plingsulli website HERE and do visit Ulrikas SHOP and buy yourself one of her lovely prints or creatures!

Work in progress...

Hello,
I wanted to share some work in progress from here at CM HQ. The design process is a fun one. I carry lots of ideas around in my head and every so often I have to empty the section of my brain that holds them. Its always rather full!
Once my ideas are down in writing I assemble the components I want to use and have a play. I have been looking at lots of photos from the late 70's and early 80's lately and I am pretty obsessed with Halston and space. The photo you see above is an initial design session. The finished items will probably look nothing like this but its a process.
I'm in love with these new tigers I received last week. They are vintage. I cant wait to show you the finished items.
The design process moving on. Introducing new shapes and colours. All the photos are from our Instagram feed. You can follow Custom Made @custommadeuk.
I hope you like little insight into a little corner of Custom Made design. Its a process I learnt to work with at University. I studied fashion design. Its all about the design process!
We will let you know when this new collection is ready. It should be very soon.

And now...The Broken Arrow Necklace is a thing and its in the shop!

Hello,
Well every cloud has a silver lining it turns out.
So, we had such an amazing response to the broken arrow story via social media and email etc (yes, we received emails saying 'please make them!') that they are now available in the shop! The arrow is brass and hangs on a lovely sterling silver chain. I love mixing the two as you know. There is also a little heart charm on the clasp...

I'm so happy to be selling these! We have had orders to the shop so I am very happy. If only every time I broken something it ended up like this.
So if you would like a Broken Arrow Necklace then hop over to THE SHOP.

A little makeover in the shop

Hello,
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend! Just a little note I forgot to mention. We have done a little makeover in the shop. We have added a pretty little mountain/forest theme. I think it looks pretty nice. Hope you do too.

Here's a little preview. Go on over to the SHOP for a full looky!

Oh and just a little heads up. Due to recent press coverage of our Locusta Necklace these are now on back order. They sold out very quickly due to a feature in the Observer. But they are on their way, and will be in the studio in around 2 weeks.

When good arrows go bad...then good again.

Hello,
So. I decided to make myself a necklace yesterday. I am really into short chains at the moment. I found this little sterling silver curb chain in my chain storage box and thought I would add a little arrow to it.
Hmmm, I wonder where the balance point is I thought. So light bulb moment, I balanced the arrow on a ruler until I found it. Then being silly didn't mark the point very accurately. Result= arrow pointing North West!!! Very annoying! Then disaster happened...I snapped the arrow.
But...
Number 1. I hate defeat.
Number 2. I hate waste.
Result...I filed and finished and drilled the two broken pieces and voila- a broken arrow necklace. I really like it. I am enjoying wearing it!
If you like these little arrows why not check out our Hunter Necklace
